Our Story
From a village hearth in Portugal to a charcoal grill on Ossington.
In old Portuguese, lume means the fire of the home — the hearth everyone gathers around. In 1989 our grandfather carried that idea to Toronto and opened a small rotisserie on Ossington Ave. with one grill and a piri-piri recipe from his village.
Three decades later that same recipe still runs the kitchen at all three locations. The chicken is still butterflied by hand, the coals are still real charcoal, and the family that lit the first flame still checks the grill every morning.
